Mathew Figueiras, Au.D. CCC-A completed his bachelors of science in Audiology and Speech Pathology in 2009 from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. His doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D.) was completed at Montclair State University (MSU) in 2014. His passion for audiology stems from a long-standing exposure to the field through personal, academic, and professional experiences. Mathew comes from a family deeply seeded in Communication Science Disorders, with numerous family members currently practicing as Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
His eight-year education in audiology included extensive training in hospitals, private practices, and schools across New Jersey. During his graduate education, he trained at the Montclair State University Center for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, The Lake Drive Program for children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, JFK Rehabilitation Center, and University Hospital in Newark. His diverse treaining allowed him to obtain vast clinical skills including comprehensive audiologic and vestibular evaluations for the pediatric, adult, geriatric, and special needs populations.
Mathew's strong family tied and consistent exposure to the Communication Science Disorders guided him to dedicate his life to advocating for those with communication deficits and ultimately led him to his career as an audiologist.
Mathew has extensive experience with hearing aids, comprehensive audiological evaluations, performing videonystagmography (VNG) testing, and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing. He has earned a specialty certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy through the American Institute of Balance (Dr. Richard E. Gans, Ph.D.), and is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
